Premier League predicted final table with Chelsea 12th as Man Utd go backwards

Mauricio Pochettino makes quick Nicolas Jackson U-turn after difficult Chelsea start

The predicted final Premier League table makes unpleasant reading for Chelsea and Manchester United fans. The Opta-predicted table has simulated the Premier League season and given a percentage rating of the likely final positions.

Despite only being four games into the new campaign Manchester City have already stamped their authority on the league – scoring 11 games and winning each match. Opta have given City a 91 per cent chance of winning the title for a fourth consecutive season.

After a disappointing fifth-placed finish last season Liverpool are hoping for an improved campaign, despite losing some senior figures this summer. However, a dramatic fightback to beat Newcastle followed by a 3-0 win over Aston Villa has boosted morale and sees them given a predicted to secure a second-placed finish.

Arsenal pushed City all the way for the league title last season but are predicted to end up third this campaign. Under new manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are then forecasted to improve on their eighth-placed finish last season to earn Champions League football with fourth this campaign.

Erik ten Hag has spent big again this summer bringing in the likes of striker Rasmus Hojlund along with Mason Mount and Andre Onana. However, Opta predict that United will go backwards this season with a fifth-place finish after placing third last season.

Brighton are forecasted to complete the top six positions ahead of Newcastle United, after beating them 3-1 before the international break. West Ham, Aston Villa, Brentford and Crystal Palace complete the top 11.

After a summer of change at Stamford Bridge which has seen them spend £396million Chelsea’s woes are predicted to continue with a 12th placed finish. They are forecasted to be followed by Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Wolves.

Opta predict that Vincent Kompany will guide Burnley to safety with a 16th-placed finish with Everton narrowly avoiding the drop again.

Bournemouth are tipped to suffer an end to their Premier League spell, with Sheffield United and Luton joining them back in the Championship according to Opta.
