Newcastle fans spot Bruno Guimaraes arriving in Brazil with Tesco bag

Fans reckon Bruno Guimaraes loves a meal deal after the Newcastle star was spotted clutching a Tesco bag in his native Brazil.

He's as embedded, it seems, into the local culture as new boy Sandro Tonali who was spotted chowing down at a local Wetherspoons after arriving from AC Milan in July.

Guimaraes meanwhile has been called up to the Brazil squad to face Bolivia and Peru in the first of their 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, and was snapped getting off the team bus with a distinctly English Tesco carrier bag in his hand.

The photo had Toon fans on social media in stitches, with one writing: "Creased, why's he taken a Tesco bag with him to Brazil."

Another said: "Wonder what three beers he'd choose on the Clubcard deal," while a third joked: "Must have needed some extra bag space and every little helps." A fourth added: "Bruno loves a meal deal."

Other Newcastle supporters suggested the bag might be full of Kinder chocolate after the midfielder revealed his love for the product in Newcastle's Amazon Prime documentary.

Fans also compared Guimaraes to Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, who is currently on loan at Real Sociedad, after the Scotland international caused a similar stir when spotted with a Tesco bag on his way into the Emirates Stadium back in 2020.

Guimaraes, 25, has made just 12 appearances for the Brazilian national team, having made his debut for the side three years ago.

He was included in the squad for the 2022 World Cup but made just two appearances in the competition, both from the bench during the group stages, against Switzerland and Cameroon.

Guimaraes was one of Newcastle's best performers last season, but has thus far failed to recapture his sparkling form in the opening three matches of his side's 2023/24 campaign.
