Liverpool fans on social media have claimed left-back Andy Robertson is "finished" after the Scotsman was caught out as Hwang Hee-Chan opened the scoring for Wolves against the Reds.

On seven minutes, Portuguese winger Pedro Neto drove past Liverpool defender Joel Matip, firing a pass across the box to the back post to the on-coming Hwang. Somehow, the ball reached the South Korean, but not before it ran past Robertson.

The left-back, making his 200th appearance for the Reds, could do nothing but try to block Hwang's shot, which hit Alisson in goal but trickled over the line, giving Gary O'Neil's side a 1-0 lead.

It was a nightmare start for the Reds, who were missing both skipper Virgil van Dijk to suspension and Trent Alexander-Arnold to injury. That led Robertson to lead Liverpool out at Molineux.

And over on social media, Robertson was crucified for his error, with some calling him "finished". One fan wrote: "Robertson liable there. Like he was against England. I love him but he's finished."

A second commented: "That was poor from Andy Robertson. Only one man in the box and he lost him and then a poor attempt to block the shot. Been out of form for a while." A third said: "Presume that Andy Robertson switching off at the back post is down to his long-trip back off international from… Scotland."

A fourth said: "Andy Robertson has fallen off dramatically." And a fifth commented: "Liverpool need another left back Andy Robertson is so poor now its unreal how bad he his."

With van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold missing from the Liverpool starting XI, Jurgen Klopp was forced to make changes to his backline. 20-year-old Jarell Quansah was handed a start alongside Matip, which Joe Gomez filled in at right-back for Alexander-Arnold.

Things could have gotten even worse for Liverpool had Wolves forward Matheus Cunha found his shooting boot. The Brazilian striker was handed a golden opportunity on a plate to double Wolves' lead following another sublime Neto ball, only to fluff his lines with the goal at his mercy, in what will be a contender for miss of the season.

But thankfully for Klopp and co, they went in at half-time just 1-0 down.
