A powerhouse country four-year-old who has easily won both starts so far returns on a summer mission at Gosford’s feature meeting on Thursday.

Ahead of his first outing in provincial company, Who Goes There is eyeing three straight wins in his first assignment since mid-May.

Racing returns to Gosford on Thursday with an seven-race card.

Stepping up to Benchmark 64 company over 1000 metres, Who Goes There has a chance to put down an immediate marker as one of the better short-course performers in non-metro NSW.

Based at the Mark Mason stable at Tamworth, the gelded son of group 1 winner Exosphere looks primed to pick up where he left off in late spring.

Given an easy trial at home a month ago, Who Goes There got serious at Scone 15 days ago, comfortably breaking 34 secs for his final 600m in easily winning an open class trial over 900m in heavy ground.

Behind him was the well-performed Akasawa who then finished right behind the placegetters in the Country Classic at Rosehill last Saturday, and Cyclone Rupert who resumed with a flashing BM 58 win at Mudgee last Friday.

Capable in all conditions, and with oodles of early tactical speed, Who Goes There can take aim at feature summer sprints, or track straight towards a Saturday Highway challenge up to 1100m.

Back in mid-April, Who Goes There wasted no time announcing his ability, blowing away a Scone maiden race by more than three lengths, running a tick over 50 seconds for the 900m, and the final 600m in a sizzling 32.30 secs.

The tank-like gelding reportedly strengthened up even further throughout the spring, and may even be pushed out to 1400m this prep.

The Country Championships are on the radar if Who Goes There progresses in expected fashion.

The Gosford meeting also signals the return of exciting and lightly raced five-year-old Bobby Is King who rates a big chance fresh in a Maiden Plate over 1000m, having his first outing for the John Thompson yard at Randwick.
