Manchester City are reportedly plotting to sign Brighton forward Evan Ferguson and play him alongside potent goalscorer Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium. And the very prospect of seeing the duo in the same team will terrify even the best teams in the Premier League.
City signed Haaland from Borussia Dortmund last summer for £51.2million after activating his release clause. And the Norway international helped the Citizens win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup after banging in 52 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign.
Haaland broke the record for the most Premier League goals in a single season as he found the back of the net 36 times. And the 23-year-old has already racked-up six strikes in his first four games of the new campaign.
According to i, City are among a clutch of elite clubs monitoring Ferguson, who scored his first senior hat-trick on Saturday as Brighton overcame Newcastle 3-1 at the American Express Community Stadium. And the report says that the Citizens could have both Haaland and Ferguson on board in a couple of years’ time.

Ferguson is still only 18 years old but enjoyed a breakthrough season on the south coast last time around as he featured 28 times in all competitions and notched 11 goals.
He got off the mark against Luton on the opening weekend of this campaign after coming off the bench and has started his side’s last two matches. And the teenage sensation was in inspired form against the Magpies as he embarrassed defenders who will be plying their trade in the Champions League this season.

“I’m happy for him today, not just for the goals,” explained Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi in the aftermath of Saturday’s encounter. “Pleased for his performance, especially in the first half. He found the right positions. Newcastle defended 4-4-1, and there was space for him. He understood where the space was. He is working to complete his qualities.
“He can become big, big, big. His qualities are enough to become a great player. He can become one of the best, the top scorer in Europe. He was born in 2004, he’s 18. I don’t know how many players are young, that score like him.”
And when quizzed about losing the player to a rival club, the Italian added: “It’s normal for Brighton to sell players. Important thing for Brighton is not to keep but to find the replacement. This is right work we need to do.”
