Max Verstappen wins third consecutive Formula One world championship
Heat proved to be the issue of the day in the Doha desert on Sunday as Max Verstappen capped off his third consecutive World Championship with a win and Lewis Hamilton crashed out on the opening lap.
The trip to Qatar was troublesome from the very beginning as the infamously abrasive pyramid kerbs threatened to create puncture issues with the Pirelli rubber off the back of tyre inspections on Friday evening.
This led to overnight track layout changes which in turn frustrated the drivers, but it was the searing heat that proved the biggest obstacle on track on Sunday.
Logan Sargeant was forced to retire due to dehydration issues, while multiple others reported feeling light-headed and ready to faint inside the cockpit, sparking fresh conversations about driver safety in high-temperature races.

Hamilton penalised after Qatar incident
Lewis Hamilton’s Qatar Grand Prix went from bad to worse in the aftermath of the race when he was penalised for crossing the track during the race.
The seven-time world champion made contact with his team-mate on the opening lap of the race, sending him spinning into the gravel and ending his Grand Prix prematurely.
With the incident taking place so close to the start-finish straight, Hamilton walked across the circuit to get back to the pit lane after exiting his W14.
This proved to be against the regulations with Hamilton receiving a £21,640 (€25,000) fine and a reprimand for the incident.
