Ryder Cup ace Viktor Hovland rubs salt into USA wounds by ‘losing your s***’

Viktor Hovland was beaming from ear-to-ear after winning Europe’s second point of the 2023 Ryder Cup as he admitted to ‘losing his s***’ after his chip-in on the first hole. The foursome groups set up some fascinating matchups to start the 44th Ryder Cup in Rome with plenty of attention on Hovland and Aberg.

The duo duly delivered on an exceptional morning session for Team Europe as Hovland and Aberg won their match 4&3. Their strong momentum came from the very first hole after Aberg’s approach shot drifted into the fringe at the back of the green.

It left a tricky chip for Hovland, but the Norwegian star showed his delicate hands as he saw his shot trickle into the cup. Hovland reacted with a huge fist bump as cheers erupted from the crowd around them.

And the 26-year-old admitted after winning his match that he just ‘lost his s***’ following his chip-in on the first.

“It wasn’t the most ideal spot but I knew it was doable,” “It’s just one of those things. You hit a good shot and it goes in and you just lose your shit.

“That was a good start and we just kept the hammer down.”
