Golf fans’ stampede to first Ryder Cup tee is ‘better start than Grand National’

Sports fans have joked Ryder Cup fans running to the first tee is better than the Grand National after video emerged on social media.

Golf's biggest tournament teed off on Friday morning – with fans rushing to get to the 'Colosseum' behind the first tee in Rome. A video on social media showed fans rushing to the stands to book the best seats in the house.

And some have joked it looked like a 'better start than the Grand National'. One fan joked: "The only other time you see a group of grown ups run like this is when it hits 7am and you can put towels out on the sun loungers!"

The Ryder Cup kicked off with foursomes on Friday. And Team Europe are looking for revenge after they were battered and bruised by the Americans across the Atlantic two years ago.

This year, Team Europe are back on home turf – with the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy, hosting the event.
