Shane McDermott Joins Afghanistan Coaching Setup

Shane McDermott has been appointed as the assistant coach and fielding coach of the Afghanistan cricket team.

The appointment brings him into the setup in time for the team’s upcoming commitments.

He will link up with the team on August 1.

This date has been set specifically to allow preparation ahead of the scheduled matches.

The timing aligns directly with Afghanistan’s five-match ODI series against Ireland.

Shane McDermott will therefore be available for the entire series duration.

The series consists of five One Day International matches between the two sides.

In his position Shane McDermott will serve as both assistant coach and fielding coach.

These responsibilities cover support to the head coach along with specialized fielding training.

The dual role is intended to cover key areas of team preparation.

With the August 1 joining date, Shane McDermott will be part of the group before the first ODI begins.

This ensures he can contribute during the lead-up phase of the Ireland series.

Afghanistan will now have the additional coaching presence in place for all five ODIs.
