Matteo Berrettini has triumphed on court at Wimbledon this year. The 25-year-old from Rome will face Novak Djokovic later this afternoon on Centre Court in a bid to win the Grand Slam singles title this year.
Mr Berrettini is the No. 7 seed and has made his way into the finals this year in what will be the biggest match of his career to date.
Currently ranked No.9 in the world, the star said ahead of his match: “I have no words, really.
He added: “I think I never dreamed about this because it was too much of a dream. I’m just so happy. I think that’s it.”
The Wimbledon men’s final will start at 2pm today but, who will be supporting Mr Berrettini from the sidelines?
Ajla Tomjlanovic has been cheering on her boyfriend, Matteo Berrettini, whilst he competes at Wimbledon.
The pair have been in a relationship since 2019.
The couple are close friends with fellow tennis player, Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is dating Tomjlanovic’s cousin.
Matteo Berrettini and the Canadian professional tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime faced each other earlier in the tournament this year.
Matteo Berrettini went onto beat his friend in the quarter-finals.
Who is Ajla Tomjlanovic?
Ajla Tomjlanovic, like her boyfriend, is a professional tennis player.
Tomjlanovic, a Croatian-born Australian tennis player reached a career-high ranking of 39 in 2019.
Until 2017, Tomjlanovic played for Croatia but switched her national allegiances to Australia after beginning to compete for the Aussies at the 2014 US Open.
Although she managed to obtain permanent residency, she still had to represent Croatia at non-Grand Slam tournaments as she did not gain full Australian citizenship until 2018.
Berrettini is not the first professional tennis player Tomjlanovic has dated.
She was previously in a relationship with a fellow Aussie tennis player. Nick Kyrgios.
The couple were together for two years before they separated in 2017.
Tomjlanovic and Berrettini appear to be going strong as the two players are often seen supporting each other at their matches.
Although Berrettini said he felt nervous for his partner when she plays, he said: “I feel like ten times more stressed watching her match than when I’m playing my match.
“So I like it when we’re playing at the same time.”
