Von Miller tells Broncos fans he’d been released in another April Fools’ prank

Death. Taxes. Von Miller scaring the crap out of Broncos fans on April 1.

The Denver linebacker once again had fans sweating momentarily when he posted a “farewell” on his Instagram in announcing his release by the Broncos. Of course, it was just another one of Miller’s mischievous April Fools’ Day pranks.

Miller might have had a few fans fooled, but plenty of them still remember when he pulled a similar stunt in 2018; then, he announced he had been traded to the Browns.

It’s been real Denver! The “Mile High City” and the @broncos will always have my heart! SB50 Champs! They can never take that away from us! @clevelandbrowns & @juice_landry what’s good!!! “A P R I L F O O L S”

He did the same thing in 2017.

It’s been good Broncos Country! I love you guys with the bottom off my heart! Not by choice, this is how the game goes! #sb50champs they can never take that away from us! @espn @nfl

Last year, he skipped the high jinks because he was heavily involved in trade rumors, so treading carefully was probably the safe option. But there’s no way the Broncos would release their star pass-rusher before the season starts.

Ferdinand tells Manchester United to sign Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho

Manchester United told to splash £230m-plus on Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho in the summer window by Old Trafford hero Rio Ferdinand

  • Rio Ferdinand wants Manchester United to sign Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho
  • Ferdinand feels Tottenham striker Kane could help United achieve success
  • Borussia Dortmund star Sancho could be an excellent signing, Ferdinand says

Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to spend over £230million to bring in Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho this summer.

United’s squad is still in significant need of improvement and Ferdinand has identified Tottenham striker Kane and Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho as the ideal targets to pursue.

Kane recently refused to rule out leaving Tottenham if they don’t win trophies, and Ferdinand feels United would be an excellent destination for the England striker.

Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to try and sign striker Harry Kane from Tottenham

Speaking in an Instagram Q and A, former United defender Ferdinand said: ‘Harry has always been coy and held back but he’s dropped a couple of bombs. He’s been waiting for the dream at Spurs to materialise but it hasn’t happened. He’s frustrated.

‘Do you think Harry would be happy, fulfilled and satisfied if he scores goals, break records but with no trophies at the end of his career? No. He will be upset and devastated.

‘I think that statement means Harry is off, he wants to win trophies and that will alert clubs.

‘I know Man United will be in for him because that type of player is perfect for them. I’m sure Juventus will be in and will Real Madrid come in?

‘He will go for massive dough, at least £130m in today’s market.’

Speaking in an Instagram Q&A, Ferdinand added that he wants United to sign Jadon Sancho

Ferdinand is also eager for United to bring in another England international in Sancho, who has frequently caught the eye since joining Dortmund.

Sancho is already familiar with playing with Kane and Marcus Rashford, with Ferdinand feeling that such an attacking triumvirate would help United return to their former glories.

Ferdinand added: ‘I want Jadon to go to a team where he will play, improve and get trophies. He’s been linked with United, Chelsea, PSG but I think United is the place for him to go because I’m biased.

‘(Marcus) Rashford, (Anthony) Martial, Kane, Sancho, that would intimate a lot of centre-halves before a whistle is blown. Definitely.’

Ferdinand believes that Sancho could thrive at United if he joined from Borussia Dortmund

Ferdinand also discussed the possibility of Sancho being given the iconic No 7 shirt at United, which has been worn by the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ex-England international Ferdinand admitted that signing Sancho would represent a risk given that his price tag would probably be over £100m, but insisted that such a deal is a gamble worth taking.

Ferdinand said: ‘Of course, he has to. If he wears the seven (shirt) he has to be there for the next ten years. That’s what that shirt deserves and demands.

‘He’s flying and one of the best young kids in the world at the moment. He’s a player with huge potential and will go for over £100m.

‘You are buying someone for 10 years at your club, it’s massive money but I’d take him and risk it.’

Tammy Abraham tells Marcus Rashford to 'stay away' from Chelsea transfer target

Tammy Abraham has jokingly warned Marcus Rashford to ‘stay away’ from Jadon Sancho, with Chelsea and Manchester United set to do battle for the Borussia Dortmund star this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Sancho as United’s top attacking target ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and Dortmund reportedly expect the youngster to be playing his football at Old Trafford next season.

The Red Devils are even prepared to offer Sancho the coveted number seven shirt, currently occupied by Alexis Sanchez, in a bid to lure the forward to the Theatre of Dreams.

However, Chelsea have not given up hope of landing Sancho and, like United, are prepared to meet the Englishman’s giant £100million valuation after Frank Lampard asked the board for a marquee signing up front.

Rashford was among the many players who sent birthday messages to Sancho who turned 20 on Wednesday – and it unsurprisingly went down very well with United supporters.

‘Happy birthday bro!! @sanchooo10 Enjoy your day, indoors!’ Rashford posted on Instagram with a picture of them together on international duty.

Sancho’s close relationship with Rashford, two years his senior, has been well-documented and could prove to be key in United’s negotiations to sign the young England international over the coming months.

But Chelsea centre-forward Abraham wasn’t having any of it and was quick to reply to Rashford’s post.

‘Stay away from my Jadon,’ Abraham responded with a laughing emoji amid rumours Sancho could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Though Abraham’s comment has since been deleted, it’s clear the striker would welcome a move for Sancho who he knows well from their early days rising through the ranks of youth football in south London.

Sancho and Abraham, both born in Camberwell, combined to score the final goal in England’s thumping 7-0 win over Montenegro back in November and, after the match, the Chelsea man reflected on just how far they’ve come in a short space of time.

‘To be at Wembley together is just a dream come true for us,’ Abraham told BT Sport.

‘I remember playing with him in the park a couple years back.

‘Every summer we’d have little competitions and now he’s just assisted me and I’ve scored my first England goal. It’s crazy to think about it.

‘I know where he wants to put the cross. He’s an assist man, he loves tallying his assists, so I just knew I had to beat my man and get in front of him.’

Earlier this week, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand said he wouldn’t think twice about signing Sancho but admitted it could be tough to lure the youngster to Old Trafford.

‘I would take Sancho all day, to Manchester United. Whether we’ll get him, though…’ Ferdinand said during a Q&A session on Instagram Live.

‘Great player, great potential, English, he’s brilliant.

‘I would take Sancho now.’
