They are the kings of the Melbourne Cup – having won the great race six times between them – and Kerrin McEvoy and Glen Boss now have confirmed rides in the 2020 race.
Following Racing Victoria’s announcement late last week which made it possible for Sydney jockeys to ride in Melbourne, it has been announced three-time Cup winning hoop McEvoy will ride the Aidan O’Brien-trained Tiger Moth in the Melbourne Cup.
Tiger Moth is on the third line of betting at $13 after a 2.5kg weight penalty for a Group 3 win in Ireland cemented his spot in the field.

McEvoy, who won his most recent of his Melbourne Cups when Cross Counter secured a drought-breaking Cup victory for Godolphin in 2018, will get a chance to win his fourth Cup after the riding engagement was announced by Coolmore.
McEvoy won his first Cup in 2000 aboard Brew before having to wait until 2016 for his second success in the race on Almandin.
Meanwhile, Boss will ride improving French stayer Skyward in the Melbourne Cup.
Boss, who famously won three consecutive Cups on the great Makybe Diva, will link with Skyward who is arriving on Friday on a ‘one-way ticket’ to be trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young.
Skyward is a $26 chance for the Melbourne Cup.
The floodgates have now opened for Sydney jockeys to ride in Melbourne during the spring.
Last Friday, Racing Victoria made the major move to allow interstate jockeys to ride in Victoria provided they travelled by road, preferably by themselves.
They are then required to complete five days of isolation in Victoria and present for a COVID-19 test on the sixth day, then being allowed to ride if the COVID test returned negative.
