Shinzo wins Golden Slipper to seal grand slam for Waller

Shinzo has won the group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday to complete the grand slam of Australian racing for premier trainer Chris Waller.

Globe-trotting British jockey Ryan Moore drove the Snitzel colt through on the rails to edge favourite Cylinder, with King’s Gambit third.

The elusive win in the $5 million race – the world’s richest race for two-year-olds – gave Waller the prized set of Slipper, Melbourne Cup, Caufield Cup and Cox Plate.

Moore had earlier ridden Dubai Honour to victory in the group 1 Ranvet Stakes.

There was drama in the running when well-fancied unbeaten filly Learning To Fly missed the kick and then parted company with jockey Chad Schofield.

More to come.
