Popular chaser Un De Sceaux has been retired after sustaining a ligament injury.
The Willie Mullins-trained 12-year-old was being prepared for his sixth and final Cheltenham Festival.
Mullins said: ‘He worked great yesterday but you could see on pulling up he wasn’t right. You can’t replace horses like him.’
The front-runner won 23 of 34 races and more than £1.5million prize money. His wins included the Arkle Novices’ Chase in 2015 and Ryanair Chase in 2017.
