Watford are keen to add a defensive midfielder this summer following their promotion

Kamara is a firm favourite with his manager Steven Gerrard but Rangers have yet to tie him down to a new contract and the former Arsenal junior has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

Watford are looking to add a defensive midfielder and Kamara is a player they have discussed extensively.

They have yet to make a bid and know Rangers would be reluctant to sell cheaply but Kamara’s performances are attracting rival interest.

Watford are also among the clubs monitoring developments with Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah who has been offered a new contract but has still sign.

The 22-year old also has interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Crystal Palace and West Ham among others.

Watford have also asked about Arsenal’s versatile midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The 23-year old enjoyed a loan spell with West Brom last season after turning down a temporary move to Southampton who also retain an interest in the England international.

Kamara has also impressed many with his performances for Finland so far at Euro 2020
