The summer transfer window is reaching its crescendo with clubs throughout Europe looking to finalise their squads before the ever-approaching deadline.

Premier League clubs have until 11pm on August 31 to get their deals over the line, with a number of huge transfer stories set to go down to the wire, including Chelsea’s possible deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

The huge news of course over the past 24 hours is that Cristiano Ronaldo is returning to Manchester United. The Red Devils confirmed on Thursday night they have reached an agreement with Juventus to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford in a sensational transfer.

The other big story coming out of Europe is Kylian Mbappe and his PSG future. The striker wants to join Real Madrid this summer but the Spanish giants have already had one offer rejected and struggling to make a breakthrough in talks with PSG standing firm.

Chelsea appeared to be closing in on Jules Kounde for a £42.7m fee, but Sevilla are now said to be holding out for much more. With just days to go until the deadline, it represents a huge blow for Chelsea, who’s move could also hinge on Kurt Zouma leaving the club.

The striker wants to join Real Madrid but PSG are refusing to sell him for anything less than £171m. Madrid were initially confident of striking a deal despite seeing their first offer rejected, but PSG are now digging their heels in, meaning Mbappe is now looking likely to stay in Paris this summer.
