The new Premier League season is just days away and the transfer window remains open, meaning clubs are still eager to make signings to strengthen their squads. The window does not close until September 1 with multiple clubs’ business still far from done.

Chelsea are one of the busiest teams and want some defenders. On Tuesday night though they confirmed they had agreed a deal with Aston Villa for exciting young midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United is undoubtedly the transfer saga of the summer but United continue to push to sign the Barcelona midfielder. Barca have been busy in the window and need to raise cash through player sales.

Elsewhere, United have plenty of players to get rid of, north London duo Tottenham and Arsenal’s incomings may not be done and Manchester City still want another new left-back.

Arsenal have next ‘Thierry Henry’

Gabriel Jesus can be Arsenal’s latest talisman after Ian Wright and Thierry Henry, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

The former Premier League striker believes Jesus is guaranteed to provide at least 15 top-flight goals this season.

He said: “He will get at least 15 Premier League goals, guaranteed. That’s huge and what Arsenal have been missing.

“Over the years, they’ve had Ian Wright, Thierry Henry, now this is the next one for Arsenal. I’m sure he’ll be on penalties, he’ll be on everything, he’ll be the talisman.”

Chelsea’s Barca revenge

After missing out on Raphinha and Jules Kounde to late pushes by Barcelona, the La Liga club got a taste of their own medicine on Tuesday.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barca were leading the race to sign exciting Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

However, Chelsea launched a secret pursuit to hijack their interest and complete the signing.

Man Utd focus on trimming squad

John Murtough and Erik ten Hag are working to streamline the Manchester United squad in the final month of the season.

The pair want to free up space on the wage bill to bolster Ten Hag’s options further and will do so by offloading several fringe players.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams are in talks over loan or permanent moves.

Amad, Facundo Pellistri, Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire could also leave for the season.

Ethan Laird will complete his season-long switch to Watford this week.
