Tottenham are reportedly set to battle with Juventus and other Premier League clubs in their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter.

The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Bundesliga side in the summer, and is allowed to speak to clubs outside of Germany regarding his future.

It is thought that Spurs are one of the clubs interested with West Ham and Aston Villa also monitoring the situation alongside the Italian giants, according to Sky Sports News.

Tottenham are reportedly set to battle it out for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter

The German international has made 26 appearances in the Bundesliga this campaign, but looks set to leave his current club at the end of the season.

Since joining Monchengladbach from fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund back in the 2017 summer transfer window, the centre-back has gone on to make 177 appearances across all competitions.

In those appearances, the defender has managed to score 11 goals and provide five assists along the way.

Ginter, who has 46 caps for Germany, can also operate as a defensive midfielder and could prove to be a good addition under Spurs boss Antonio Conte.

Villa, however, are keen to keep building up their squad as they look to push on – having already signed Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers and Robin Olsen in January.

Boss Steven Gerrard is expected to be handed the funds necessary to continue building his team ahead of an important 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Premier League rivals West Ham will be looking to bolster their options following a second consecutive successful season of battling it out among the big boys.

But in order to achieve similar success, the Hammers will need to pad out their thin squad.

Juventus are also understood to be keen on Ginter to fill the void of a pair of ageing centre-backs in Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

Ginter recently spoke out while on international duty about his situation being undecided

Ginter recently spoke out while on international duty about his situation, by saying:  ‘I honestly can’t say much, because there is no decision from my side.

‘I think it will be another two, three, four weeks before I’m 100 percent committed.

‘Of course, I’ve already spoken to the national team coach [Hansi Flick] about what he thinks, how he sees my situation.

‘When things become more concrete, we’ll certainly talk about it again. Basically, I listen to how he sees it, but at the end of the day, I know it’s my decision.’
