New Tottenham boss Antonio Conte and director of football Fabio Paratici have reportedly earmarked Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic as the ‘ideal heir’ to Harry Kane.
A host of Europe’s top clubs have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old striker, who has just 18 months left on his current deal with Fiorentina.
And his refusal to pen an extension has put his Tottenham on red alert ahead of the January transfer window.
According to TuttoMercato, Spurs are preparing an ‘assault’ to strike a deal for the prolific striker in the New Year – and they’re currently ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City in the race for the Serbian star.

The report goes on to state that Juventus are likely to be Tottenham’s main competition in the battle for Vlahovic; who is seen as the ‘ideal heir’ to Kane.
It should come as no real surprise that Tottenham seen to be planning for life after Kane given how vocal the England captain was over a potential exit last summer.
He made no secret of his desire to seal a switch to Premier League champions Manchester City – although the two sides failed to come to terms on an agreement for the 28-year-old.
However, the same report suggests that Tottenham expect Kane to get his wish next summer, with City in pole position to finally bring him to the Etihad.

Kane has cut a frustrated figure at times this season after failing to get his move, and he was even booed by Tottenham fans earlier in the season after it was alleged that he failed to report for pre-season training.
Despite issuing a statement quashing that and attempting to build bridges with Spurs fans, Kane has struggled for form and scored just once in the league this season.
And it now seems that Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is content to sacrifice Kane in order to provide Conte with the funds he desperately needs to overhaul his new side after they were embarrassed in midweek.

Conte was fuming after Spurs were stunned by NS Mura in the Europa Conference League on Thursday – and made it adamantly clear that the current squad is not good enough.
“After three weeks I am starting to understand the situation,” he said in midweek.
“It is not simple.
“At this moment the level at Tottenham is not so high.
“I am happy to stay here but we have to work a lot to improve the quality of the squad.
“We are Tottenham but there is an important gap with the top teams but I am not scared.”
