Liverpool could delve into the transfer market this month as they look to stay in the hunt for the Premier League title and launch an assault on the Champions League trophy. The Reds endured a miserable festive period and have failed to win any of their last three Premier League clashes.
Liverpool have been reluctant to sign players in January during previous seasons, although they did land Virgil van Dijk in the first window of 2018.
And, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Jurgen Klopp’s side will open their chequebook if they can find a player like Diogo Jota. The Portuguese forward joined the Reds in September 2020 and has since been a revelation.
“They will jump into it if they find an opportunity like Diogo Jota – a player with a good price with no crazy price tag, and with good skills that match Jurgen Klopp’s ideas,” Romano told Anfield Watch.
“So if they will are able to find this kind of opportunity, they will do it. Liverpool are looking in the transfer market for that kind of player, a winger – this is the priority.”
With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane now with their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool could be on the lookout for an attacking player immediately. Express Sport looks at four forwards who the Reds could target.

One player Liverpool could turn to is Leeds United ace Raphina.
The winger has been one of the best players in the Premier League since he moved to Elland Road from Rennes in October 2020.
The 25-year-old would likely set Liverpool back mega-money – but he would come with assurances that he can mix it with the best in the country.
Raphina has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists during his 47 Premier League games for Leeds. He has also scored twice during five appearances for Brazil.
Another player making waves in the Premier League at the moment is West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen.
The 25-year-old has been sensational for the Hammers this campaign and has helped his side move to fifth in the top-flight table.
Bowen would likely jump at the chance to move to Anfield, although West Ham would inevitably demand a high fee for the player.
The Liverpool scouting department will clearly be casting their net far and wide and, if the Merseysiders opt to look further afield in January, they could be tempted by Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma.
The 24-year-old moved to Spain last summer after scoring 15 goals in 33 Championship games for Bournemouth last season.
Danjuma has gone on to find the back of the net nine times in 18 games this season, with four of those strikes coming in the Champions League.
But it will be tough for Liverpool to sign the Netherlands international so early into his Villarreal career and they may have to look elsewhere.
