Thierry Henry has responded to Jose Mourinho’s dig at Arsenal by insisting that Tottenham have never even entered his headspace.
The Spurs boss felt aggrieved by a social media post from the Gunners which mocked their bitter rivals over their 3-1 loss to Sheffield United last week.
Having already beaten the Blades 2-1 in the FA Cup quarter-finals the previous weekend, Arsenal posted the highlights of the victory along with the comment: ‘It’s not easy beating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. Here’s a reminder of how it’s done’.
Mourinho was not happy with his side being taunted and decided to bite back.
‘If they [Arsenal] were top of the league or fighting for top four in a really good moment they wouldn’t enjoy the problems of others,’ he said.
‘You only enjoy the problems of others when you are also in trouble. In the end it says more about them, they don’t have much to celebrate [so] they have to get every opportunity to do it. They are in a very similar situation to us in the table.’
And ahead of the north London derby on Sunday, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry maintained that he never thought in depth about his rivals as a player, let alone now as a fan.
‘It’s going to be a weird one, it’s going to be the first one where it’s going to be in this type of situation,’ Henry told ESPN.
‘It’s going to be funny to hear Mourinho talk about it.
‘I saw the other day he already started to have a go at Arsenal, that was pretty funny at the end of the day.
‘But no, listen, I didn’t think about it too much. Because I don’t think about Tottenham and I never did in fairness so it won’t change.’
