Spurs willing to pay £46m for Luis Diaz – who agreed to join Everton last summer

Tottenham hope to make £67m-rated Luis Diaz their biggest signing of a busy end to the transfer window.

Porto forward Diaz had agreed a move to Everton in the summer only for the transfer to collapse when his club moved the goalposts.

Since then he has been heavily linked with Liverpool – but Spurs are now in talks to sign the red-hot Colombia star.

And while Tottenham are not willing to meet his full £67m release clause, they hope to make him the marquee signing of what could be a frantic end to the window.

Boss Antonio Conte wants at least three signings made, with moves also afoot for Wolves winger Adama Traore and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

It is understood Spurs are yet to make official bids for any of that trio, but remain optimistic they can sign all three before the window shuts.

Conte also wants a central defender but no progress has been made over Inter Milan pair Stefan De Vrij or Milan Skriniar, his two top targets.

The Italian is also trying to shift players, with Tanguy Ndombele edging closer to a loan move to Paris St-Germain.

Diaz has managed 16 goals in 28 games for Porto this season, has Champions League experience, and starred for his country in last summer's Copa America.

Sky Sports report Spurs are willing to pay up to £46m for Diaz's services.

Conte is looking to 'rebuild' his squad, and Spurs have also been linked with Adama Traore.

It's believed the Italian wants Traore to play the wing-back role in his famous 3-5-2 system that Emerson Royal is unable to fulfil.
