Saul Niguez has revealed that fellow Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga played a crucial role in his deadline day move to Chelsea. In the late hours of Tuesday, Chelsea completed the loan signing of Saul with an option to buy, finishing their summer business.
Thomas Tuchel has strengthened his squad with two top-class players ahead of the remainder of the season.
Chelsea welcomed Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge in a club-record deal worth £97.5million.
Saul provides further quality and European pedigree to the midfield as Tuchel looks to add a Premier League title to his growing collection.
Chelsea fans may have Kepa -whose time at the Blues has been far from straightforward – to thank for the late switch if the 26-year-old’s comments are anything to go off.

After completing his move, Saul revealed that Spanish compatriot Kepa Arrizabalaga played a significant role in his decision to join Chelsea.
He said: “Kepa being at Chelsea has been an important step in my decision.”
The 26-year-old became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when Chelsea paid Athletic Bilbao £71.6m for his services in 2018.
But his Blues career has completely gone to plan, and he currently provides cover for first-choice stopper Edouard Mendy.

Saul also expressed his delight over the move and shared his excitement to get started in England.
“They are the Champions of Europe. It’s very positive for me,” Saul explained.
“My parents can’t believe it. They are Atletico fans! It’s a great opportunity for me; they are happy for me.
“I’ll give it a try and see what happens. Give it my all and help Chelsea so that [Tuchel] can see the Saul I want to show. Not just a versatile player.
Saul will arrive at the club over the international break, which will help him settle in before club duties continue next week.
The Spaniard has tough competition for a place in Tuchel’s team, with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic battling over two spots.
On the competition, he added: “The three midfielders who are playing are at a high level, it will not be easy to play, but if I put my mind to it and fight it, I can get it.”
He adds to Tuchel’s incredible squad depth, and Chelsea are now well-positioned to forge an assault to reclaim the Premier League title.
