Leroy Sane admits Manchester City were ‘unbelievable’ against Bayern Munich in their quarter-final clash, as German champions crash out the Champions League… but insists he’s ‘proud’ of the ‘spirit’ shown by Thomas Tuchel’s side

Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane has admitted that Manchester City were too ‘strong’ for the German side in their quarter-final tie.
The Bundesliga champions crashed out of the competition after drawing 1-1 on Wednesday night, meaning the aggregate score was 4-1, against the English side.
Sane, who spent four years at City, was seen distraught after the game and was consoled by his former manager Pep Guardiola. He then when on to speak about his thoughts on the tie.
Speaking to BT Sport, the German winger said: ‘Today was a good game from us, strong game, I have to score and make it 1-0.
‘City got a lot of pressure, it is tough as we lost first game away 3-0, it shouldn’t have happened, today we could have done a lot, it’s tough for me with a big chance.

‘I think we had good control, won lots of balls in midfield, if I score I would like to know how the game went.
‘I know the team quite well and how strong they are at home, if you concede three goals away in first leg it’s tough, they know how to control the game.
‘It’s really annoying how it went especially how we played today, the team played really well and I’m proud of that, we have to keep up the spirit and focus on the league.
Asked if City play ‘unbelievable’ football, the winger said: ‘Yes they do (play unbelievable), everyone likes how they play, congrats to them.’
Sane made headlines last week after clashing in the dressing room with team-mate Sadio Mane after their first-leg 3-0 defeat to Guardiola’s side.
Sane attempted to hide his injury upon touchdown back in Germany but was snapped in the club’s follow-up Bundesliga tie with Hoffenheim sporting a bruised upper lip.
Sane had made headlines for a training ground bust-up with team-mate Sadio Mane last week
After the game, pictures of Sane being consoled by Guardiola emerged online and they appeared to show the Bayern player in a distraught state.
One image shows Sane holding his face with one hand as he appears to be rubbing away tears with his fist after Bayern were eliminated from the prestigious competition.
Guardiola previously worked with Sane before the German moved to Munich in 2020, however pictures after full-time in the Champions League encounter shows the pair still maintain a good relationship.
Sane started Wednesday’s 1-1 draw while Mane was left on the bench by Thomas Tuchel. The pair were then swapped in the 67th minute and briefly clapped hands.
