Roy Keane is "sick" of praising Cristiano Ronaldo after Man Utd return

Manchester United icon Roy Keane has admitted he's "sick" of praising Cristiano Ronaldo, calling the new signing a "genius".

Ronaldo has returned to Old Trafford, signing a two-year deal with the option to extend for a further year.

Ronaldo previously shone at United before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009, though the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is back with the Red Devils again.

He was team-mates with Keane during his first spell and left a lasting impression on the outspoken Irishman.

And Keane praised Ronaldo again after the Portugal star bagged a late double in the come-from-behind win over Republic of Ireland earlier this week.

Speaking on ITV on Thursday night, Keane said: "Brilliant, it is amazing. Even last night, Ireland put on a great display, a good show, Ronaldo looked off it, missed a penalty but we just seen what he’s about getting in the box end product, two brilliant headers.

"First one very, very brave then the second one great movement the accuracy of the header, how many times can I say it?

"The man's a genius, I’m sick of saying it.

"I was surprised when it all happened [Ronaldo move to Man Utd] there was talk he was going to City and to be back at Man United and I know some will doubt it but we seen last night, he’s a different player to when he left, his football intelligence was fantastic last night.

"Great for the league, United needed a lift, can’t wait to see him again back at United."
