Romelu Lukaku is said to have reached an initial agreement on personal terms with Chelsea, reports claim ahead of a potential return to Stamford Bridge. The Belgian goal machine waved goodbye to Stamford Bridge for Everton in the summer of 2014 on a permanent deal following a successful loan spell at Goodison Park.

Three years later he would sign for Manchester United but things did not go entirely to plan for the 28-year-old at Old Trafford despite a promising start under Jose Mourinho.

He eventually left for Inter Milan in the summer of 2019 and helped fire the Italian giants to the Serie A title last term, knocking Juventus off their perch.

Lukaku even committed his future to the club after the departure of Antonio Conte earlier this summer but now Chelsea are trying to convince him to rejoin the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s latest offer could be worth up to £110million plus Marcos Alonso.

The Blues reportedly saw an opening offer, which included the Spaniard, worth around £85m rejected by Inter earlier this week.

Now IndeThependent claim Lukaku has an agreement on personal terms with the Blues, meaning a deal is edging closer by the day.

His agent Federico Pastorello is also believed to be pushing for his client to move back to west London.

Furthermore, The Independent also reports that Inter Milan are open to the inclusion of two Chelsea players in the deal.

One is of course Alonso, who is already under discussion during negotiations.

Secondly, full-back Davide Zappacosta would be of use to Inter, who are yet to sign a replacement for Archaf Hakimi at right-wing-back.

Inter were previously offered Zappacosta earlier in the window through intermediaries.

It’s understood Chelsea would be prepared to make Lukaku their best-paid player at around £250,000 a week.

All that remains now is for Chelsea to table an offer that satisfies Inter Milan’s demands, particularly if the player outlines his desire to leave.

The move could also prevent Arsenal from signing Lautaro Martinez this summer, following an audacious recent enquiry.

Despite storming to the Serie A title, Inter were crippled with debt at the end of last season, a situation that drove Conte towards the door.

Hakimi was also sold to Paris Saint-Germain to help ease the financial pressure on the board but now Lukaku could follow him out the door.

Reports in Italy claim Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata could be a potential replacement for Lukaku, should he be sold to Chelsea.

Coincidentally, Tammy Abraham – who is expected to leave Chelsea even if Lukaku does not arrive – is also on Atalanta’s shortlist if they lose Zapata.
