West Ham United star Declan Rice will reportedly "push to join Chelsea", despite club chiefs being desperate to keep him at the London stadium.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with Rice as Frank Lampard continues his summer spending spree and Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the player wants to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano said "Chelsea are trying to do the same [as Liverpool]. 'We want the big targets and not the plan B back up option'
"If you talk with West Ham, you have to be honest they're saying the player is staying and the player is not moving.
"It won't be easy and Chelsea are now considering selling players. But Declan Rice will push to join Chelsea. He will go strongly to join Chelsea
"We will have to see what will happen because he also respects West Ham as normal but he's going to tell West Ham 'I want to join Chelsea'.
"Now it's time to see what Chelsea will bid for Declan Rice because Chelsea are still yet to make an offer."
Four Chelsea players Frank Lampard could sell to raise Declan Rice transfer funds
The Athletic's transfer guru David Ornstein believes that West Ham will reject any bid for Rice outright in order to avoid the same furore which occurred when the club sold winger Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion
Speaking on Ask Ornstein, he said: "In essence, the view of the West Ham hierarchy, as I understand it, is that Rice is not for sale under any circumstances.

"Others I’ve spoken to, who are very close to West Ham, say that their stance is true – that he will not be leaving, that it’s unthinkable in this transfer window, especially after the uproar from West Ham fans, and many throughout the game, that West Ham decided to sell their homegrown product, Grady Diangana, to West Brom – [fans felt] it showed that they needed money and they would cash in on Declan Rice at the right price.
"It’s just my knowledge, and I’m not saying it’s going to be the case, but I just don’t see that happening."
