Manchester United failed to end their four year wait for a trophy on Wednesday after losing to Villarreal on penalties.
United struggled to break down Unai Emery’s LaLiga opponents in Gdansk and were left feeling heartbroken when David de Gea missed his penalty to see Villarreal claim the trophy in the most dramatic fashion.
The result saw Emery become the first manager to win the Europa League or UEFA Cup for the fourth time and showed the world why Pau Torres has several suitors.
While Lindelof and Marcus Rashford failed to impress for Manchester United – having been responsible for Villarreal’s equaliser and failing to score the winner respectively.
