Piers Morgan was pictured laughing with Aaron Ramsdale after Arsenal’s win over Tottenham on Sunday despite an X-rated tweet about the broadcaster from the goalkeeper seven years ago. Morgan has previously made reference to the tweet on his Twitter page and was spotted laughing and joking with Morgan post-match, indicating the pair have swept the issue under the carpet.

Ramsdale, 23, has made a superb start to his Gunners career after taking Bernd Leno’s starting place in the side.

Keeping three consecutive clean sheets in his first three games and only conceding his first goal to rivals Tottenham on Sunday, Ramsdale has rightly earned plaudits.

After producing some dominant performances between the sticks at such a young age and showing some much-needed leadership at the Emirates, Ramsdale is proving his worth after critics argued his price tag was way too expensive.

Having been signed for £24million rising to £30m in add-ons, fans and pundits alike criticised the need to spend so much money on a second-choice keeper.

However, it has soon become apparent that Ramsdale has been brought in to replace Leno, and he has silence those who judged him.

One famous fan in particular who judged him was Piers Morgan, the well-known television personality.

The Surrey-born presenter has featured on Britain’s Got Talent, Celebrity Apprentice and Good Morning Britain to name but a few and also previously worked at also working for The Sun the Daily Mirror.

Seen as a controversial figure, Morgan sparks debate regularly across the United Kingdom with his population-splitting opinions.

And Ramsdale certainly knew what side of the fence he found himself on with an X-rated tweet in 2014.

The keeper was 16 years old at the time and tweeted: “@alexbushe @piersmorgan piers morgan is an abdolute w****r”, signalling his views on Morgan.

But after excelling for Arsenal, the tweets have been found – likely much to Ramsdale’s initial horror.

Morgan, 56, has made his love for Arsenal known over the years via Twitter, and has taken the tweets the correct way by having a photograph and a laugh with Ramsdale about the mishap, which were published on Morgan’s Twitter account.

Mikel Arteta hinted that he would continue to play Ramsdale after his strong start for Arsenal.

“We have two fantastic keepers, I had to make a decision today and it was the right one,” Arteta said after the 1-0 win against Norwich.

“I want to see how they perform, we need performances. Whoever is more reliable is going to play.”
