Paul Pogba pokes fun at Bournemouth star after Manchester United victory

Paul Pogba and Joshua King were reunited as Bournemouth’s miserable losing streak continued at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon and the Manchester United midfielder couldn’t resist poking fun at his former team-mate after the match.

The pair rose through the Red Devils’ academy ranks together before going their separate ways in 2012, with Pogba completing a move to Juventus and King departing for Blackburn after loan spells in Germany and England.

King, who has since settled on the south coast and established himself as a regular in Eddie Howe’s side, was heavily linked with a return to United in January before the club completed a temporary move for Odion Ighalo.

And while King will be pleased to have scored his fifth goal of the season on Saturday, he could not prevent Bournemouth from losing their sixth straight league defeat as Mason Greenwood inspired United to a 5-2 victory.

The Norwegian’s 49th-minute penalty gave Bournemouth hope of mounting a second-half comeback before a pair of superb strikes from Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes put the hosts out of sight.

Pogba appears in good spirits again after United extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches and the Frenchman took to Instagram to troll King in the wake of Bournemouth’s defeat, posting a photograph of the striker almost ripping his shirt off his back during the match.

‘Bro I told you I would give you my shirt you don’t have to take it like that hahahah,’ the midfielder said.

Discussing United’s win on BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand suggested that Fernandes had ‘freed Pogba from the burden of expectation’ since his arrival in the January transfer window.

‘Pogba has been a totally different player since the restart,’ the ex-United and England defender said.

‘The energy levels in his game, it’s the Pogba United paid £89million for four years ago.

‘A big factor is undoubtedly the man he is playing with in the centre of midfield – Bruno Fernandes.

‘Pogba will not want to be shown up out there and that’s perhaps the motivation he needed. Solskjaer will be absolutely loving what’s he seeing from those two.

‘Fernandes is just doing what comes naturally to him and it’s been a huge boost to Pogba’s form – it’s freed him up to play as well.

‘There’s probably less pressure on him now because he knows that some of the burden of expectation is being shouldered by Fernandes.’
