Patrice Evra believes Harry Maguire should be dropped from the Manchester United side after their humiliating 6-1 defeat against Tottenham on Sunday.
United were torn apart by Spurs at Old Trafford, conceding four goals in the first half of a Premier League game for the first time in their history.
Quick-fire goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Son Heung-min edged the visitors in front after Bruno Fernandes’ early penalty, before Anthony Martial was shown a red card for slapping Erik Lamela.
Son and Harry Kane then added another two for Spurs before half-time, capping a miserable opening 45 minutes for United.
And it didn’t get any better for them after the interval, with Serge Aurier's strike and a Kane penalty handing Jose Mourinho a 6-1 victory at the home of his former club.
Maguire, who remains the most expensive defender in football history after joining United in an £80million switch from Leicester last year, had an evening to forget at Old Trafford.
The England centre-back was ripped apart by the likes of Son and Kane – meaning Evra is now calling for him to be taken out of the firing line.
“I know you have to have some filter when you talk on TV but it is a shambles,” the former United ace said on Sky Sports after tonight’s game.
“Gary Neville, I heard him say captain Harry Maguire needs a holiday. We always hear about pairing him with someone. But what about taking him out of the squad?
“I don't want to start to criticise players. I am someone who's been there. I make many comments about the board but tonight no one has any excuse.

“They let down all the United fans. I don't care about the result because I have been beaten 6-1. But it's just about every year it's the same story. Right now I feel all the United fans.
“That's why right now I prefer to do another game than a United game.”
