Partey gives verdict on "difficult" Arsenal new boy Odegaard

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey says it's amazing to have Martin Odegaard at the club and that the Norwegian is a difficult footballer to play against.

Partey moved to the Gunners in the summer from Atletico Madrid and has faced Odegaard before in La Liga.

Odegaard sealed a January loan move to north London from Real Madrid in search of more game time and to help out in the club's creativity department.

Arsenal finally sanctioned the exit of Mesut Ozil last month and were keen to take advantage of Real Madrid's stance on the player.

Odegaard has only made two substitute appearances thus far but is expected to have a greater impact as the season progresses.

And it seems one Gunners player is certainly a fan of the 22-year-old.

"It’s difficult when you play against him. I remember playing against him, he’s so intelligent, he is always quick on the ball, he doesn’t give you a chance to win the ball," he told Stadium Astro.

"It’s amazing to have him here. I hope he has a great season and he’s able to help us achieve what we want to achieve."

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was a driving force in the midfielder joining the club and Odegaard said as much on his unveiling.

"He seems like a top manager and I liked his ideas, the way he sees football and also the way he is," said the Norway international.

"He gave me a great feeling and that was important for me to come here. He was crucial.

"I think it's a club that really suits me well."
