New Man Utd analyst is trusted advisor to Rangnick and will be Reds assistant

Manchester United have hired a new analyst who is a trusted advisor to interim boss Ralf Rangnick and will work as one of his assistants at Old Trafford.

Rangnick is slowly putting together his backroom staff after seeing a number of United's former coaches and assistant managers leave the club.

Michael Carrick left the club following his stint as caretaker manager, while Kieran McKenna departed last week to become Ipswich Town manager and took Martyn Pert with him to be his assistant.

This has allowed the German interim manager to bring in a handful of staff members who he has worked with in the past.

The latest to join is analyst Ewan Sharp, who most recently worked under Rangnick at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Rangnick was managing director of sport and communications at the Russian club before replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the United dugout.

Sharp also previously worked for MLS side New York Red Bulls, who are part of the Red Bull group for whom Rangnick worked as global sports director.

He joins former Red Bulls boss Chris Armas, who replaced Carrick as one of Rangnick's assistants, and Sharp will also take on a role as an assistant manager at Old Trafford.

Former RB Leipzig sports psychologist Sascha Lense has also joined the staff at United since Rangnick's appointment earlier this month.

Sharp played college football when he was younger before working as a video analyst for a number of university teams in the USA.

He has been on Armas' staff twice in the past at both the Red Bulls and Toronto FC.

Sharp had not been at Lokomotiv Moscow long before joining United, having only arrived in the Russian capital in November.

It is unknown whether he will stay with United beyond the end of Rangnick's spell as interim boss.

The German will remain in temporary charge until the end of the season before taking on a role as an advisor at the club.
