Paul Merson has been proved right after an old video showing his opinion on Harry Maguire came to the light.
It comes after another disastrous performance for the Manchester United captain, who has had a horrid season so far.
The defender has taken plenty of flak over the course of the campaign and was in the firing line once again at the weekend.
The Red Devils were swatted aside with ease by Manchester City on Sunday at the Etihad after losing 4-1.
Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez both scored braces while Jadon Sancho gave United some respite in the first half when he equalised with a fine goal but it did not last.
After the match, there was plenty of reaction on social media – especially on Maguire’s performance – but one man appeared to be ahead of the herd.
Appearing on Sky Sports back in 2019 after United had just signed the defender from Leicester, former Arsenal star Merson tore into the decision.
“I worry for United. I don’t see any good business. Harry Maguire for £80million is ridiculous,” he said.
“You have to remember when he ripped it up for England, he played in a three. You only play a three at the back for one reason – the defenders are not good enough.
“When he played at Leicester, they play and then drop back and sit on the edge of their own box. There is no space behind, the ball comes in the middle, he heads it out and he comes out running with the ball.

“He kicks off for Manchester United, you’re on the halfway line. All of the sudden you’re playing against Arsenal and balls are going over the top for [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang or for [Sergio] Aguero at Manchester City. And it is pace, pace, pace.”
In the Sky Sports studio, there was plenty of bite from the pundits – especially Roy Keane who was furious with his old side for their performance.
Keane said: "United gave up and in a derby, in any game, it's unforgivable.
"I can forgive mistakes, but not running back, not trying to tackle – there are players out there who shouldn't play for Manchester United again.
"We've all lost football matches but it's the way they lost. You expect them to play with a bit of pride but that's a reflection of where the team is at the moment.
"If you can't run back and put your body on the line when you're playing for Manchester United, it's shameful."
