Mason Greenwood ‘already has plan for next transfer’ if Man Utd end contract

Mason Greenwood is reportedly ready to move to China if his Manchester United contract is terminated.

Greenwood, 21, had all charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control against him dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service on Thursday (February 2), as there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. United, however, have since launched an internal investigation overseen by CEO Richard Arnold.

Opinion is said to be divided amongst Red Devils chiefs. And Greenwood is prepared to start a new life in the Far East, according to The Sun.

They report he never wanted to play for his boyhood club again after they suspended him following his arrest in January 2022. He's claimed to have now "begrudgingly" accepted United’s probe.

A source told the publication: “He said he would be happy to go and play in China as long as that meant he was getting paid well and was playing. His view may have softened over the last few months, but he was not happy at all."

It's also been suggested Greenwood would struggle to cope with the treatment he'd receive from opposition fans should he return to playing in England.

United boss Erik ten Hag declined to comment on Greenwood's position when asked in his pre-match press conference yesterday. He said: "No. Nothing. I can't add nothing. I refer to the statement of the club."

Asked whether he had spoken to Greenwood at all, he replied: "As I said, I can't give comment about the process. I can't say anything about it, I refer to the statement of the club. At this moment, I can't add anything."
