Manchester City reportedly have a blockbuster deal in place to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Premier League leaders are understood to have won the race for the highly-rated Norwegian striker despite facing competition from several of Europe’s other elite sides.
It comes following The Daily Mail's report that sources in Germany close to the move claim personal terms have been discussed between City and the 21-year-old phenomenon, with the framework of the transfer “ready to be signed off”.
Haaland will be available for £63million this summer due to a release clause in his contract, while agent Mino Raiola’s huge fees and a signing-on bonus are likely to take the total up to around £100million.
That is affordable to City, who held back in their pursuit of the Dortmund ace last year to make him their primary target this summer.
And they are expected to beat their numerous other rivals to securing Haaland’s signature.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain’s respective issues this season make them less attractive destinations than they have seemed in the past, while Chelsea’s new sanctions mean the west London side’s future is uncertain.
That leaves La Liga giants Real Madrid as City’s most significant rival in signing the goal-machine, though their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe for free is already a hefty enough strain on their wage bill.

Haaland’s father, Alfie, spent three years with City after his spell at Leeds United, meaning the family already have a close bond with the club.
Manager Pep Guardiola has repeatedly expressed that City require a top striker following the release of club legend Sergio Aguero last year and has had to play various midfielders in the position over the past year.
Haaland, who has been held back by injuries this season, will provide a much-needed goal threat to Guardiola’s already outstanding side.
The Norwegian star boasts a sensational record of 80 goals in 79 matches for Dortmund and is tipped to go on to become one of the all-time greats.
