Manchester United are closing in on an £80m deal for England star Jadon Sancho.

United have agreed a deal in principle with Borussia Dortmund to sign Sancho for £75m – plus an extra £5m in add ons.

Sancho, who is with the England squad preparing for next week's Euros showdown with Germany at Wembley, has told Dortmund he wants to join United.

United tried to sign the winger last summer but failed to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga outfit, who demanded £110m for the 21-year-old.

But relations between United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward and his Dortmund counterpart Hans Joachim-Watzke have improved since then.

It is understood talks have been cordial and United are increasingly confident of landing Sancho when England's participation in the Finals comes to an end.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made Sancho his No.1 summer target – and his arrival at Old Trafford is expected to see French international Anthony Martial leave the club.

Signing Sancho also signals that United bosses have ended once-and-for-all any notion of them luring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford on a short-term contract.

Dortmund are being forced to cash-in on Sancho after deciding not to sell Erling Haaland this summer.

Haaland is expected to remain with Dortmund for one more season, before leaving in a £70m deal due to a clause inserted in his contract.

Sancho will be handed a five-year deal at United worth around £200,000-a-week.
