Man Utd to make Paul Pogba Premier League’s highest earner with £104m deal

Manchester United are reportedly set to make Paul Pogba the highest-paid player in the Premier League by handing him a new eye-watering £104million contract.

Pogba, 28, is set to enter the final year of his current United contract, which sees him paid £290,000-a-week.

But according to The Sun, Red Devils chiefs are now preparing to offer the France midfielder a new five-year deal worth a staggering £400,000-a-week.

They are desperate to keep him at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future and certainly don't want him to go into the 2021/22 campaign with less than a year remaining on his contract.

Pogba's new pay packet will make him the top earner in English football, surpassing Kevin de Bruyne's £385,000-a-week deal at Manchester City.

United are prepared to wait until after Euro 2020, where the £89million star is currently plying his trade for France, to negotiate the structure of his new terms.

They have been left fearful of the possibility that he could leave for nothing next summer, with Bosman ruling allowing him to begin negotiating a free move abroad at the turn of the year.

Pogba therefore holds most of the aces in contract discussions with the Old Trafford hierarchy, who are now willing to make him the top flight's best paid star to ensure that nightmare scenario doesn't play out.

The player revealed earlier this week that an agreement with United is yet to be settled, but it is believed that may not be too far away.

After endless speculation over his future and a potential move to Real Madrid or Juventus, he is understood to be happy again in Manchester and prepared to commit his future to United.
