Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign highly rated Brighton defender Ben White, who is already being targeted by several top clubs in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old centre-back has just spent a successful season on loan at Leeds United, where he helped the Whites gain promotion back to the top flight.
Marcelo Bielsa would like to keep hold of White long term and the club are already said to have tabled a £35million to try to snap him up on a permanent basis.
Brighton though know there could be a bidding war sparked over their prize asset and are demanding closer to £50m to sell him.
According to The Sun , all of the Premier League’s top six clubs are now interested in the defender now that United have joined the race.
Newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool have shown the most interest so far, while Chelsea, Leicester and Tottenham, and now both Manchester clubs, are being linked.
The Reds are said to still be slight favourites to sign White as they try to replace Dejan Lovren following his £11million move to Zenit this summer.
White is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League, but clubs know about his potential and are keen to snap him up before anyone else.
Brighton know they can’t keep hold of him forever but would prefer to wait at least for one more season when the market is more stable.
Then they would hope to get more for their money with clubs hopefully being better off financially after the coronavirus pandemic.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still wants to add to his defence and would prefer a long-term partner for Harry Maguire.

Victor Lindelof is still making mistakes and the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Chris Smalling are not up to scratch.
With the Red Devils making efforts to sign £100m-rated Jadon Sancho though, paying another £50m for White this summer seems unlikely.
Brighton will hope a season of Premier League football for White can increase his value even further.
