Man Utd interested in Goretzka, Neves an option, Williams may leave on loan

Manchester United’s summer will be significant, as they prepare to improve their squad and close the gap between themselves and league winners Manchester City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, but are also looking to bolster other positions such as central midfield, centre-half and right-back.

Having comfortably secured Champions League qualification, finishing above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, United are now plotting a title charge.

They’ve made plans in case Sancho doesn’t arrive, while a few departures are a possibility for the Old Trafford club.

Daily Star Sport has taken a look at Manchester United’s latest transfer news below.

Interest in Goretzka

According to various German outlets including Bild and Sport1, Manchester United have an interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka.

There is a real feeling of discomfort around contract situations at the German club and United feel they can take advantage of it by signing up Goretzka.

Goretzka is reportedly keen on extending his Bayern Munich contract, but United have recently been in contact with the player’s management.

Neves might be an option

Manchester United are ready to compete with Arsenal for the signing of Portugal’s Ruben Neves from Wolves, according to the Express.

The midfielder could leave Molineux this summer for a deal worth around £35m with Arsenal reportedly the frontrunners for the player.

United, however, could swoop in and will have the chance to pair him with compatriot Bruno Fernandes in midfield should they get him.

Williams loan to Southampton

Southampton are favourites to get Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams on loan next season, according to reports in Hampshire Live.

The Saints are keen to strengthen full-back positions and see a short-term deal for Williams as an ideal deal, with Ralph Hasenhuttl eager to make a move happen.

Williams rarely featured for United last season, mostly appearing as a back-up for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Alex Telles competed with Luke Shaw for the left-back spot.
