Man Utd fans told to treat Martinez well as incoming star has "farewell dinner"

Lisandro Martinez's personal chef has ordered Manchester United fans to treat him well after the Ajax ace was pictured at a "farewell dinner".

Martinez, 24, is expected to become Erik ten Hag's second signing of the window after the Red Devils had a £46million bid accepted on Thursday morning (July 14). The Argentina international will now undergo medical examinations at Carrington before putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.

Barring any last-minute hitches, Martinez will fly out to Australia to link up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour and could be in line to play against Crystal Palace on Tuesday (July 19) – though, bizarrely, Martinez's impending Old Trafford switch was first broken by his personal chef Kabir Kohli.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening (July 13), Kohli posted a snap of himself pictured alongside Martinez captioned "farewell dinner," sparking a frenzy on social media.

The personal chef then clarified the hazy image by commenting on Twitter: "Despite my best attempts at trying to convince #Lisandro #Martinez to stay for another year at #Ajax, unfortunately it seems like he’s off to #ManUtd. Man Utd fans – take care of him. He’s awesome!"

Kohli later quipped: "Seeing as I broke the story of #Lisandro #Martinez moving to #ManUtd – does this make me a better source of transfer news that Fabrizio Romano?

After securing a third Eredivisie title in four years, it's no surprise Ten Hag is endeavouring to raid his former club in the summer window. Aside from Martinez, Anthony and ex-Ajax ace Frenkie de Jong both rank highly on his transfer wish list, though deals for the midfield duo are proving much more taxing.

The Red Devils have agreed an initial £63million deal with Barcelona for De Jong but negotiations with the club have not been the problem. Content with life in Catalunya, De Jong is adamant he wants to remain at the Camp Nou next season and United are yet to convince him to relocate. Whilst Ajax have stated they would only part with Antony if United coughed up their £55m asking price.
