Manchester United fans praised two rising stars who could save Ole Gunnar Solskjaer millions in the transfer window amid links to Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho.

Having already secured second place in the Premier League, Solskjaer picked an experimental line-up for Sunday's final game against Wolves as he rested his big hitters for Wednesday's Europa League final.

Among the players given a chance to impress were Daniel James and Anthony Elanga, who lined up in attack alongside Amad.

And James and Elanga were hailed by fans after combining in style to send Solskjaer's side on their way to a 2-1 victory at Molineux.

Wales star James delivered a first-time, pinpoint cross with his weaker left foot, expertly finding his teenage team-mate who gave United the lead with a bullet header.

It was a glimpse of what both players could offer as Solskjaer makes plans for next season.

With players able to play on either wing, they will have given United's recruitment department something to think about as the Red Devils ponder spending £80million on Sancho, while also targeting £100m-plus strikers Kane or Haaland, while also targeting .

United fans on Twitter were certainly impressed, with one saying: "Daniel James gets a lot of criticism but what a superb cross that was & what a brilliant header by Elanga.

"Superb for him to get his first goal for Manchester United & an extremely good finish. Lovely goal all round."

Another said: "Rewatching it I reckon that Dan James cross is delivery of the season. First time on his week foot and the shape and accuracy was just perfection."

Some fans wanted to see James played on the left wing more often, with one tweeting: "I wish Daniel James can switch to that side where he assisted Elanga permanently.

"Lad's left foot for crossing is so so classic. He can always cross to Cavani."

Another admitted he may have to rethink his opinion on James, saying: "I have made fun of Daniel James this whole season and though he messed up that one big chance horribly last night, his cross from his weaker foot for Elanga's goal was absolutely top class."

And one supporter reckoned Solskjaer has a potential superstar in his squad, simply saying: "Daniel James is a special footballer."
