Man Utd dealt major blow as tests reveal extent of Paul Pogba injury

Paul Pogba will miss between eight to 10 weeks for Manchester United after suffering a thigh injury during training with France’s national team.

The midfielder pulled up during a shooting drill on Monday and immediately left the pitch in order to receive treatment from France’s medical team.

After striking the ball, Pogba let out a cry of pain and could be seen visibly limping as he left the session.

Pogba has now withdrawn from the squad ahead of France’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Finland.

According to RMC Sport, initial medical tests have indicated that Pogba’s injury will keep him out of action for a period of eight to 10 weeks.

That means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be without the midfielder for United’s busy fixture schedule over the winter period.

Following the international break, United will face Watford, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, United’s qualification for the Champions League knockout stage is far from certain and Solskjaer’s side still have to play Villarreal away and Young Boys at Old Trafford in Group F.

Pogba was sent off in United’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on October 24 and subsequently missed the 3-0 win over Tottenham and the 2-0 loss to Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 28-year-old’s long-term future is also in major doubt as he is yet to sign an extension to his current contact which expires at the end of the season.
