Manchester United chief John Murtough has apparently identified two transfer priorities for next summer. The Red Devils will be looking to build on this year’s productive delve into the market.
United have been keen to build a squad which will see them compete with the best in Europe once again.
This summer they splashed out £73million to get their hands on England winger Jadon Sancho, before shelling out another £34m for Raphael Varane.
And just days before the transfer window was about to slam shut, the club managed to agree a deal to take Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford for just £12.8m.
It was the sort of business fans have been crying out for for years and the Red Devils now have arguably their strongest squad since Sir Alex Ferguson’s days at the helm.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now be under enormous pressure to win his first piece of silverware as United boss.

He came close last season after reaching the Europa League final before seeing his side suffer penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Villarreal.
But this season’s squad is far superior and Murtough has given the Norwegian manager every chance of success with the new faces he has brought in.
While Solskjaer has his attention on securing that elusive first trophy, Murtough already has his eyes fixated on next summer’s transfer business.
And, according to ESPN, United’s wishlist is focused around bringing in a striker and a midfielder.

At 36 years old, Ronaldo is clearly not a long-term option and the Red Devils are keen to sign a goalscorer who can do the business year after year.
Mason Greenwood is certainly proving worthy of a chance to lead the line, although he is likely to be utilised in a wider role alongside Ronaldo this season.
With the likes of Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani already at the club’s disposal, a new striker would clearly have to offer something more – meaning the club could target the likes of Erling Haaland or even Harry Kane.
Meanwhile, Murtough is desperate for a top-class midfielder to sit in front of the back four and give United’s attacking players a license to flourish in the final third.
The centre midfield position is arguably United’s weak-point and the club will want to address that in their quest to reach the top.
England international Declan Rice was heavily linked to Man Utd this summer, although West Ham’s valuation apparently put the club off.
Chelsea are rumoured to be keen on Rice as well, meaning United will face a battle if they are to take him to the north west.
But if Murtough can bring in a world-class striker and a world-class midfielder next summer, it could be the catalyst the club needs to relive their glory days and dominate European football once more.
