Manchester United star Paul Pogba was left on the bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the Premier League match against Everton. The World Cup winner was left out with Scott McTominay, Fred and Bruno Fernandes preferred at Goodison Park.
Pogba has been inconsistent this season, with many pundits and fans criticising the former Juventus man.
Solskjaer is under pressure at United and Rio Ferdinand thinks the manager has made a major statement by leaving the World Cup winner on the bench.
The United boss prefers the solid base of Fred and McTominay as he knows exactly what he is going to get.
Ferdinand said on BT Sport: “He’s saying there, ‘you front four, go and win me the game’.

“If I’m sitting there and I’m Paul Pogba I’m going, ‘well, I’m not in his best team’.
“He needs to pull out a result, he’s under immense pressure today and I’m on the bench.
“What does that say to the likes of Paul Pogba? That’s why if I’m Pogba I’m sitting there going, ‘well, where do I lie in his plans?’
“But I think for Ole, that two in front of the back four are his insurance policy, that’s how he sees them now.

“That front four have got to go out and produce. Rashford, Bruno, creating changes, taking chances, that’s what he needs them to do today.”
Joe Cole believes Solskjaer simply can’t trust Pogba in his starting line-up.
“It’s massive. They had a bit of joy, didn’t they, strung some results together with those two in there, sitting in front.
“What that says to me is that Solskjaer, he knows this is a big game for him personally and he’s gone ‘right, what players can I trust?’
“He can’t trust Pogba to sit in that position and do a job. A couple of the others he might have had to play, but McTominay and Fred, what they’ll give is limited mistakes, a little bit more switched on defensively and two good characters.
“I think Solskjaer has just gone with ‘what lads can I trust today?’ And he’s gone with those two in front of the back four.”
United went down inside 20 minutes to Everton thanks to a Bernard goal.
Bruno Fernandes netted twice to turn things around though with the Red Devils on top at Goodison Park.
