Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job is on the line following the signings of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s according to former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, who thinks the Red Devils have to challenge for the Premier League title. It’s been a topsy-turvy start to the campaign so far for the 20-time champions, who have failed to win four of their last six matches across all competitions.
United spent big in the summer, bringing in three marquee names.
Sancho was the first of the Galacticos to arrive, with the England international joining from Borussia Dortmund after four years of intense speculation.
Varane then followed, touching down from Real Madrid a decade after Sir Alex Ferguson first tried to snap him up.
And then, on deadline day, United confirmed the Hollywood homecoming of Ronaldo – 12 years after he’d left for Real Madrid.
With such signings, brings big pressure.
And former Arsenal star Campbell, speaking to Football Insider, has claimed the arrival of the trio means Solskjaer’s job ‘is on the line’.

“Man United’s squad is loaded,” he said.
“The fact of the matter is, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been backed to a serious extent. I mean to bring in Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo, wow. He has got to deliver now.
“There is not going to be time for these players to settle in. There can be none of that.
“Man United came second last season and have added three difference makers to that squad. You have got to make it work if you are Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It is that simple.
“Ole has been there a little while now and he has not got over the line with silverware. He has to win something this season and really it should be the league.
“There is a lot of pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His job is on the line.”

United did initially start the season well.
But they’ve won just three of their matches since Ronaldo came back, with fans now wary of another troublesome campaign.
Solskjaer has been in charge since December 2018, when he was initially hired as Jose Mourinho’s replacement on an interim basis.
Yet while he’s undoubtedly improved the club, he knows he needs a trophy.
That’s especially after last season’s Europa League final defeat to Villarreal, where they were beaten on penalties.
And whether Solskjaer can steer United to the trophies they want most is something only time will tell.
Speaking last weekend, meanwhile, the Norwegian insisted he was confident in his squad.
“It’s the same question that was asked after Wednesday night,” he said.
“I’m very confident that we will get the best out of this squad.
“A lot has happened this month and we’ve had Raphael [Varane] and Jadon [Sancho] with us since August, and Cristiano [Ronaldo] since September.
“We’ve got loads to work on and we need to improve, we know that and I know that, but I do believe in this group of players and the coaching staff that I’ve got. So, the short answer is yes.
“I believe in these players, I believe in the coaching staff and I believe we have something going.
“The proof is in the pudding, we need results and you have to turn up.
“You can’t say ‘we did well against City and Tottenham last year’, we have to do it during the 90 minutes, whoever plays.
“That’s the challenge, because every game in the Champions League and Premier League is a big game against a good team and every game as Manchester United is a potential banana skin, as we’re expected to win every one.”
