Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer contemplating three signings in addition to Jadon Sancho

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is mulling over whether to make three more signings this summer in addition to Jadon Sancho, according to reports. It’s an open secret that the Borussia Dortmund star is the Red Devils’ top transfer target. But United could also strengthen elsewhere as they target a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

Manchester United have seen all five of Solskjaer’s signings flourish at Old Trafford.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Magiire and Daniel James have all lived up to their price tags, with Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo shining since their arrivals in January.

United are determined to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table and are hoping to add Sancho to their impressive attack.

They’ve tracked the Borussia Dortmund star for three years now and are expected to go after him with vigour when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

And the Independent say the Red Devils are also contemplating additions up top, central midfield and a new central defender.

United have good options when it comes to strikers.

  • What Man Utd chief Woodward thinks about Greenwood and Sancho

Anthony Martial has scored 20 goals playing down the middle this term while the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Odion Ighalo can all play there too.

But United could yet add another player to their ranks amid links to Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard, of Lyon and Celtic respectively.

Regarding centre-back targets, it’s claimed United could rival Manchester City for the signing of Napoli powerhouse Kalidou Koulibaly.

But Milan Skriniar, Dayot Upamecano and Joe Rodon are also on the club’s radar amid their fine form for Inter Milan, RB Leipzig and Swansea this term.

Central midfield is an area where United also believe they should strengthen.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer recently admitted he was unsure how the coronavirus crisis would impact the club’s spending this summer.

“I think the pandemic has hit everyone really hard,” said the Norwegian.

“I still think we need to wait and see how things are panning out to know the real effects of the pandemic, to know what kind of financial state we are in.

“You see some teams invest, some teams don’t.

“We’ll have to take a big look at things ourselves to see how hard we’ve been hit. I know the club has announced a few numbers before.

“It’s not for me to say here now we are going to have X amount because I don’t really know.

“I don’t really know how hard we have been hit. We are a financially strong club, but we are also probably being hit more than anybody else.

“Let’s see how quickly we can get our fans back into the stadium and of course the league position is going to be important for us this season. If we can get a trophy, the FA Cup or the Europa League.

“The Europa League will also qualify us for the Champions League, there’s still a lot of uncertainty and these three or four months, every businessman in the world, every footballer in the world, I think everyone is still unsure what the effect will be.”
