Manchester United and Liverpool have entered the race with Arsenal to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports.
The Gunners failed in their move to sign Aouar last summer as their £32 million bid was rejected. Lyon were demanding a €60m (£55.5m) fee, while Aouar also had reservations about joining Arsenal as they were not in the Champions League.
But the French club have now drastically reduced their asking price this summer and it’s now understood that an offer in the region of €25m (£21.3m) would be enough to land Aouar.
Arsenal have now reignited this interest in Aouar and the midfielder is reportedly more open to joining the Gunners.
However, ESPN report that United, Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in securing a deal for Aouar before the end of the window.
The report claims that Liverpool view Aouar as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who left Anfield to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in June.
Meanwhile, United are also keeping tabs on Aouar as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views the French midfielder as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, who has just one year left on his deal at Old Trafford.
Tottenham are also looking to strengthen their midfield and could reunite Aouar with Tanguy Ndombele, who impressed together as teammates at Lyon.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are on the verge on completing a £17m deal to sign Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga.
The 21-year-old is understood to have completed his medical and will link up with his new Arsenal teammates in the coming days.
