Man City vs Brighton LIVE: Team news, line-ups and more ahead of Premier League fixture tonight

Follow all the action as Manchester City welcome Brighton to the Etihad in the Premier League this evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been in fantastic form of late, winning their last six games in succession, including last week’s Carabao Cup semi-final triumph over rivals Manchester United. Summer signing Ruben Dias has transformed the club’s defence, while there has been no shortage of goals either, despite the continued absence of Sergio Aguero, who is currently self-isolating. City are seven points adrift of leaders United but boast two games in hand, putting themselves in firm contention in the title race.

Meanwhile, fortunes are not so bright on the south coast, with Graham Potter’s side winless in the league since late November. Brighton have produced plenty of promising moments, but that has rarely translated into points and they now find themselves in the jaws of a relegation battle. They remain three points clear of 18th placed Fulham, however, the Cottagers have two games in hand. A nervous FA Cup victory last time out did little to soothe supporters’ worries either, with Brighton narrowly surviving a penalty shootout scare against League Two Newport County. Team news – Man City vs Brighton

Last time out

Man City were back to their best when they travelled to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Three first half goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne saw them take complete control of the match and not even a consolation goal for Callum Hudson-Odoi could stop them bringing home the three points.

Brighton faced Wolves in a tough contest that saw goals at both ends. The Seagulls took an early lead but a shocking performance from Dan Burn saw him score an own goal and give away a penalty to put Wolves 3-1 up at half time. Brighton responded in the second half with goals from Neal Maupay and Lewis Dunk and they were able to come away from the match with a point.

Early team news

Manchester City are once again without striker Sergio Aguero who is unavailable as he self-isolates following contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

Ederson could play his first game since contracting the virus, but Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are injured.

Brighton are without Danny Welbeck, Aaron Connolly and Tariq Lamptey who are all sidelined with injuries, Adam Lallana is ill and Yves Bissouma is suspended.

Steven Alzate could come back into contention following illness but Alireza Jahanbakhsh will be assessed following a minor injury.
