Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports in France. Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has been sounding out potential destinations amid his uncertain future at Old Trafford.

According to Le10Sport, Liverpool told Raiola that they aren’t likely to chase a deal to sign the France international this summer.

However, the Reds’ suggested that could change in January 2022 if Pogba hasn’t yet extended his United contract.

If the 28-year-old hasn’t agreed terms on a new deal by the new year, club’s will be able to begin talks over signing him as a free agent next summer.

Alternatively, Liverpool may be able to snatch him for a cut-price fee if Pogba only has eyes for the Old Trafford exit door.

Express Sport looks at how Jurgen Klopp’s team could look after a sensational swoop for United’s record signing.

Goalkeeper: Alisson

Unlike Pogba, Alisson is set to sign a new contract, and he’ll continue as Liverpool’s number one this season.

Defence: Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson

Klopp’s defence will weirdly have a new-look feel to it throughout the 2021/22 campaign.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s return to form in the backend of last term will make him feel like a new signing if it continues.

Andy Robertson will continue at left-back, with Virgil van Dijk making his long-awaited return from injury, which kept him sidelined for most of last season.

Liverpool’s only summer signing, Ibrahima Konate, is expected to partner the big Dutchman in Klopp’s first-choice team.

Midfield: Fabinho, Henderson, Pogba

Fabinho will be excited to play the whole season in defensive midfield after covering in centre-back for large chunks of last term.

Club captain Jordan Henderson’s return will be a significant boost to Klopp’s chances of success.

Georginio Wijnaldum’s departure has left a space to fill on the left side of Liverpool’s midfield three.

Pogba could come in and play in his preferred role straight from the off, something he hasn’t been able to do much since leaving Juventus for United in 2016.

Attack: Salah, Mane, Jota

Mohamed Salah will undoubtedly be Liverpool’s primary source of goals again, with Sadio Mane on the other flank.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino will battle for the striker spot, but Klopp often favoured the former when he was fit in his debut season at the club.

Even without Pogba, Liverpool’s squad for the season ahead is more than capable of reclaiming their Premier League title.
